How to: Peel Apart film

Equipment:
Polaroid Colorpack II
Fujifilm FP100C

*Note: you should always pack your film in low-light settings, I've used daylight for illustrative purposes.  Actually, I've done nearly everything wrong for illustrative purposes.

After you open your packet, this is what you'll find.  (This is always what you shouldn't have sat in direct sun.)  The bit with the window (shown) will face the inside of the camera.  Leave the black strip hanging outside of the camera.

Pull the strip and a small white strip should follow.  (If it doesn't, please consult your camera manual.)

You'll use that tiny white strip to pull the film out after you have made your shot.

After you've shot your imagine, use the white tab and pull until it detaches.  You should see this:

Pulling smoothly, pull the rest of the film through.  (Try not to stop like I did, again this was for illustrative purposes.)

Leave for the specified amount of time.  (Consult the film box.)  Then begin gently peeling away at the edge.

If you've done everything right (and not done the things that I've done), your image should immediately be shown on the left (which is now your photograph.)  The right can be folded up and thrown away, as it still contains a lot of fluid (which is caustic, so perhaps don't touch it.)

Lucky for me a blank shot is a successful shot, eh?

ADDENDUM

This is where the dev pack hides.  When you pull the film through the thin opening of your camera, it breaks this and spreads it along the film body.
